We are heavily indebted to those who have chosen to remain anonymous but whose personal
experiences of drug addiction , particularly heroin, has made a hard hitting
and invaluable contribution to the project. We dearly hope that tHe buZZ will prevent other youngsters turning to drugs and dying needlessly like Tony. His death has made an unimaginable void in the life of his family and friends. tHe buZZ is dedicated to his memory. |
Tony Crombie was only 17 years old when he died. He could have been anyone's
son, brother, boyfriend or best friend. He was from a decent, loving and
close family - yet they were unable to protect him from the drug habit which
cost him his life. Drugs affect people from all walks of life - they don't recognise class boundaries, postal addresses or rich from poor. It is vital that all the relevant agencies work together to tackle the scourge of drugs and this has been the ethos of tHe buZZ from the outset. Police officers, teachers, pupils, drugs addicts, students, researchers, parents and an education advisor have all been directly involved in this important project. tHe buZZ is unique because of the extent of the involvement by young people. They have played an integral role from the very beginning and their thoughts, ideas and opinions have made this project so special. |
